Cooling Facial Masks For Sunburn

Oops I Did It Again

Summer sun and fun are here again and no matter how responsible we are to make sure we apply our sunscreen each and every day, sometimes we get to having too much fun in the sun and we get that first sunburn of the year. Or we are convinced, it isn't hot today or we want to beat the days' heat, so we don't wear our sunhat or apply any makeup or sunscreen, just so we can get outside and take that walk or have an early game of tennis or golf, or a nice long bike ride in the fresh air. Unfortunately, temperatures don't go hand in hand with Suns' powerful UV rays. It is based on how high our sun sits in the sky. The longer the days, the more intense UV rays become.

Remember the hours to avoid full sun exposure unless you are doing your Vitamin D synthesis for 15 minutes that day, are between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm.

Besides wanting to kick ourselves in the hiney and curse ourselves for not being more careful as we see the lovely cherry red begin to blossom by days end, we have one thing on our mind, to get cooling relief and to speed healing as quick as we can.

Sunburns are painful and are no laughing matter when they are severe. I personally have to constantly protect my nose since it always seems to be the one area of my face that catches all the rays. So wide brim hats are the order of the day for me, over and above using my mineral makeup, because some days I don't put on my minerals if having a lazy day around the house....and of course it seems to be those days that I spend the most time outside....good one!

Two Cooling Facial Masks

Today I wanted to share with everyone these wonderful face masks which you can also use on other areas of the body if need be. First and foremost, during the blossoming of your sunburn, keep cleansing simple, gentle and easy and use cool rather than warm water on your face and body.

Cooling and Moisturizing Mask

Combine 1 tablespooon of FULL FAT PLAIN yogurt with 1 teaspoon runny honey. If the honey is too thick, simply warm in the microwave for a few seconds.

Optional, if you have it available, add 3-4 drops of lavender or chamomile essential oil to the mask for their soothing and calming properties.

Apply to clean face and allow to sit on the face for 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse with cool water, followed by your favorite moisturizer.

Question: Why Use Full Fat Yogurt? Because it is loaded with lipids, so it will provide the essential moisture the skin needs after a sunburn since a sunburn is very drying and damaging to skin.

You can use this everyday until the face feels and looks better.

Cooling and Pain Remedy Mask

In a blender or food processer, mix 200 mg aspirin, 1 small PEELED Cucumber and a 1/4 cup of Aloe, making sure it is alcohol free. Once it is transformed into a paste like consistency, refrigerate for 15 minutes and then apply to clean skin and leave on for 30 minutes, followed by a cool water rinse.

The aspirin will give a mild analgesic effect to the skin for pain, while the cucumber and aloe provide the healing and cooling effects to the sunburn.

You should apply this mask 2 x per day until the sunburn improves. Store the remainder mask in an airtight container in the fridge for up to several days, after that discard and make fresh. But after a couple of days your skin should feel greatly improved.

For Cooling Skincare

ONATI Skin Care products are excellent for keeping skin cool, hydrated, well moisturized, while using gentle, natural exfoliating ingredients to keep skin clean and clear.

So no matter your skin type, we have the solution for all women who suffer from varying skin maladies to having perfect skin.

My Medical Disclaimer:

Of course I am in no way a doctor and I am not giving medical advice, nor has the FDA validated any claim as to the benefits or efficacy of these recipes.....blah, blah, blah. I am just a gal who has on more than one occasion, burned my skin going out and enjoying a bit of yard work, only to regret my decision to not wear my sunhat or apply my mineral makeup foundation first.

However, this year, I have been very savvy ever since my skin cancer removal. These recipes are based on past experiences before I got my wake-up call.

As always, determine an allergy by testing a small patch on the skin first. If you have an allergy to aspirin do not add to the cucumber and aloe mask. They will still work well with exception of not having the pain reliever added. And of course in the event of a very bad sunburn, such as blistering, seek medical attention.

Also despite the once practice of sun lamps, acne is not cured by exposing our faces to sunshine, so keep covered up. It is and always will be about occlusion and bacteria in pores.

Have a lovely weekend and don't forget your sunscreen, otherwise you'll pay for it later in more ways than one.....speaking from experience.

Cheers

Avocado Facial Mask For Dry Skin

More Fun Is In Order

Okay some of you were willing to take the time to click on our poll within the blog and let me know what you like, and some of you decided to email me instead.

The results thus far are pretty much even, but the poll can still be taken for another 20 or so days at the upper right corner of the actual blog. So if you haven't voted, please do so to let your viewpoint count. Just click on article title to go to the original blog.

Chomping At The Bit

Okay, now upon seeing the trend of votes, I have seen the sentiment for the most part and I am going to listen to you, my readers....

However, just a wrinkle...I am jiggling my foot off the edge of my desk rail and snatching myself bald headed, barely able to contain myself....fighting the urge to let you know the latest since the last blog on government intervention into the beauty biz, and believe me there has been plenty....

But "NO" I am going to resist and do some fun stuff, and steer away from the pulse of the biz...at least for this week. In fact, I have decided to allow some of this to play out and then I'll update you when there is a summary of information instead of play by play as it happens. So here's to keeping it fun and simple this week....

Avocado Facial Mask

These are so wonderful, especially during the summer when our skin is exposed to the heat and sun...it tends to get dried out, chapped, sunburned, peeling and even itchy. This mask will work wonders on dry skin and make it feel soothed, soft and moist.

What You'll Need....

1/2 of very ripe, squishy avocado
1 Tb of natural Honey
1 Tb of natural yogurt (plain)
a bit of lemon juice for toning and exfoliating (optional)
your favorite essential oil if you like

If you get your avocado really squishy, a fork is all that you'll need. Now mash it until it is smooth and creamy. Remember Avocado oil is wonderful and an extremely deep penetrating oil rich in A, D and E and potassium. It is high in Sterolins, soothing skin irritations and itching associated with it. This infuses intensive moisture to the skin, yet is perfect for every skin type, especially for softening mature skin.

Now stir in your honey until smooth again. Honey is a natural antibacterial ingredient and works wonders on toning the appearance of skin.

Add the yogurt next and stir it all together. Yogurt is perfect as the cleansing agent in your mask and due to the lactic acid it possesses, it works great for soothing and softening skin while it refines the pores and tones.

Once it is all mixed, I pop it in the microwave for a few seconds (about 5-10) just to take the chill off.

Now add a drop or two of your essential oil (optional)....or squeeze a slice of lemon into the mask, approximately a teaspoon.

Prepare your skin with warm water, and do not wash prior to the mask, as this would be a bit of overkill on the skin. The avocado mask will work fine for getting skin clean. But of course, make sure your face doesn't have any mineral makeup on it....so on your day off or in the morning is the best time.

Now gently pat all over the face and neck and relax for a bit, about 15 minutes or more....then rinse and apply a facial toner and your favorite skin cream....or simply let your face go "au naturale" for the day. You'll be amazed at the softness and soothing comfort this mask brings to dry, chapped or sunburned skin.

Tip: Now I have stated before with other food grade masks, you can store them for a day if you like, but note, just like bananas, avocado's will turn black with air. So my advice is again, to eat it as long as it is all food grade.....in fact chop some onion in and have a bit of dip for your taco chip....

Don't eat the Essential Oil please!

Have a nice weekend! Cheers.

Banana Facial Masks For All Skin Types

Got Bananas?

The incredible edible fruit....remember that jingle which splashed across the airwaves once upon a time? Or maybe it was the incredible edible egg....or maybe the egg people stole the idea from the banana people....either way....I do..... in fact while writing this article the tune is now lodged in my brain as I find myself humming while typing. I love bananas when they are pristine, just turned yellow with hints of green. The best flavor and firmness at that precise point.

But then within a matter of a couple of days they go from vibrant and firm to aged and shriveled.....kinda like me until my beauty regimen and mineral makeup fix me right up.

So, I thought I would share with you a great way to use ripened bananas other than in your infamous banana bread.

If you love beauty ideas and hate throwing out and wasting your over ripened bananas, then this is a winning combination.

I know I have thrown out my share of bruised or blackened bananas over the years. Love them on my cereal, but at times I skip breakfast or I forget about them, only to discover after their demise of what is now a shriveled form of itself. And well, making banana bread these days just isn't happening. When the kids were around I cooked more but now it's pretty much grab and go.

I am also going to give you several options depending on your skin type for making this work best for you. Let's get started!

The Chemistry Behind Bananas

Bananas are rich in Vitamins A, C, B6 and B12. They also are full of potassium and magnesium. Therefore this offers great antioxidants for our bodies and are great at purifying our skin with these nourishing benefits. Plus they offer gentle fruit acid exfoliation for removing dead skin cells and leaves the skin looking revitalized, smooth and brighter.

The Facial Masks Using Banana As Key Ingredient

All mask recipes, leave on anywhere from 10-20 minutes depending on your desired effect. Plus the recommendations for skin type are simply a guide. All skin types can use every one of them and the differences are for enhancing benefits for specific issues with the skin.

Mature, Sensitive, Dry Skin Type:
  • Mash a ripe banana either with a fork or use a food processor or Kitchenaid mixer (my favorite). Then add a tsp of Honey. Mix well and then apply to cleansed face and neck and leave on for the desired time. Rinse off with clean warm water and follow with your favorite toner and moisturizer.
This mask moisturizes, tones and exfoliates the skin. Honey is an excellent humectant and also has antibacterial properties.

Oily, Combination (Sensitive) Skin Type:
  • Only use 1/2 of a banana for this one and again mash or process and then add 1/4 tsp. of Jojoba Oil and 1 Tbsp. of either Rice Flour or Wheat Germ. Mix it gently and if it ends up being too runny just add scant amounts of your powder preference to get it to the consistency you find easy to apply. If it is too thick then it will just roll across your skin. I found it to work best for me with the consistency of pancake batter. Let it set for the time you prefer then rinse with tepid water. Follow again with Toner and Moisturizer.
Jojoba Oil is perfect for pH balancing skin, reducing sebum production, helping acne, and soothing skin irritations.

The Exfoliant: Rice Flour should be used for those with sensitive skin as it is excellent for alleviating acne and skin irritations and also has very micro fine graininess and Wheat Germ for those that aren't due to its coarser consistency.

All Skin Types:
  • Only use a 1/4 to 1/2 of a banana and mix with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Oatmeal. Again if too runny add a scant amount of Oatmeal for a better consistency. Once the oatmeal is moistened from the banana apply to the skin and allow to set for preferred time. Rinse with tepid water, tone and moisturize.
I prefer the oatmeal to be ground instead of whole out of the box. It stays on better and is easier to apply. Oatmeal is great for moisturizing, plus it helps soothe dry, itchy skin and reduce inflammation the organic way.

Keeping It Simple

Now of course some of you may have a favorite ingredient and you can always bump these recipes with a bit of a kicker for making a better mask. But in this article I wanted to make this mask simple with minimal fuss.

Don't Forget

Also if you have an allergy to bananas it doesn't necessarily translate to causing a problem being applied to the skin, but always do a test spot before proceeding to satisfy any curiosity. You don't need to make a mask and have it go to waste, just rub some raw banana on your skin and see what happens. No reaction, then make your mask with one of many gentle exfoliants in nature.

Plus do not store leftovers as bacteria begins to grow after several hours. Yes....you could refrigerate it and this slows down the bacterial growth, but are you really going to apply a freezing banana peel to your face the very next day?....I don't think so! And if you warm it up, guess what, bacteria begins its' growth process again. Just discard leftovers, or here's an idea ....eat it!....but only if it is all food grade....don't go eating the jojoba oil please!

Cheers!

Fun And Easy Peel Off Facial Masque Recipes

Benefits Of Using A Masque (Mask)

Facial Masques are used to cleanse, tone, exfoliate, lift and revive the skin. A masque treatment will also go far in creating a smoother surface for a perfect application of your mineral makeup.

Masques which are made with natural ingredients forming a paste are excellent for reducing inflammation and exfoliation through removal of necrotic tissue. They can double as gentle facial scrubs while applying then allowed to set up and do the rest of the job of calming and soothing facial tissue. Then they are rinsed away with warm water.

Another masque is the peel off type which is typically removed after drying in one complete piece. They create a glowing skin through removal of surface cells and invigorate blood flow while toning the skin. The downside to purchasing one of these types of masques which are commercially prepared, they are loaded with synthetics and chemicals to achieve the peel off effect and there really isn't anything natural about them.

Today I wanted to share with you a peel off masque recipe for doing this right in your kitchen with a few simple ingredients. And the best part is, it will be fun and kind of like enjoying a mad scientist moment.

How Peel Off Masques Work

They are applied in a liquid state which is usually a gooey mess, then allowed to dry and once dried, peeled off very carefully so as not to tear it. As they dry on the skin, dirt, oil, pore blockages are grabbed by the masque ingredients so when the mask comes off, these substances are lifted off with it revealing a healthier "you".

What You'll Need

Unflavored Gelatin by Knox and some fruit or vegetable juice of your choice. Only make enough for a single application to prevent bacterial growth. Your juice selection will be based on a certain skin type since tannins and fruit acids will serve different purposes for different maladies of the skin.

A great idea is to have a few friends over and make a larger concoction and share in the experience of a pampering facial.

Recipe For Dry To Normal Skin

1 Tb Knox Gelatin
1/2 Cup Fruit Juice (Apple, Pear, Papaya, Raspberry, Peach)

Pour juice into a heat resistant bowl and sprinkle the gelatin into the juice. Place the bowl in the microwave and heat it until the gelatin disperses completely into the juice...approximately 1 minute, avoid boiling. Place the masque mixture in the fridge for twenty minutes to a half-hour. You are looking for a thick consistency, but not one that is completely set up. Think gooey mess!....Your gel masque is now ready to use.

Why These Juices Are Perfect For Dry Skin

They are specifically suited for dry skin due to their acidity which helps to eat away dry skin without leaching moisture from living cells. Apple Juice is the most popular due to it being readily available at your local grocery store. However, if you have a juicer or food processor, you can experiment with other fruit juices. But check your food coop since they will also carry specialty juices on the list above.

Oily To Combo Skin Recipe

Same as above recipe, but now you will substitute a different range of fruits geared specifically to restoring the skins' natural acid mantle and removing excess sebum buildup.

In the Combination Skin category utilize mainly the fruits for dry to normal skin but add a bit of lemon or grapefruit juice. Great for assisting with cell removal further and helps reduce oil in that t-zone area.

Lemon, Grapefruit, Orange and Lime Juices fall into the citrus category and also work at refining skin texture, exfoliate dead skin cells and reduce shine on the face.

When using citrus fruits be very careful around the delicate eye area as these are a natural AHA in their purist form.

Also if you like add a touch of Carrot Juice for its' astringent properties of aiding in toning the skin.

Mix It Up!

You can also do a combination of juices in the mixture for an aromatic experience and giving your skin a real pick me up! Also if you want to go for that truly toning and tightening of the skin and pores, add an egg white to the mixture once it cools and take masque down onto the neck and decollete.

Use Of These Recipes And Removal Of The Masque

Unless you have extremely oily skin, do not use your masques more than once a week. Otherwise, you run the risk of over stimulation, which can cause stress to the facial tissue. Apply only a sheer layer, avoiding the eyes, eyebrows, hairline, and any other areas where it will be hard to remove the masque once it dries. The best application tool is a fan brush and this brush will also reduce dripping.

Make sure you only apply a thin layer so it doesn't take all day to dry and avoid the eye and mouth area. Then sit down and relax for twenty to thirty minutes while your masque dries. You will know it is ready when it does not feel tacky any longer. Finally, peel from the chin up to the forehead to avoid contributing to what gravity already has a hold of. You may experience some tingling to the skin. Voila....beautiful glowing complexion.

If you should have any visible residue, simply splash your face with cool water, not cold since you don't want to shock the skin. Then apply our Perfect Balance Facial Toner and your favorite moisturizer and feel the remarkable difference in tone and texture of your face. Our Vitamin Rich Facial Serum is the perfect compliment after a facial treatment.

So enjoy and experiment to find out which type of fruity masque you enjoy and your face loves. Have Fun!

Disclaimer: Although I love sharing ideas and recipes, not all suggestions will work for all users so with that I must give you the standard disclaimer.

Like with any skin treatment always do a patch test first to check for sensitivity. Citric Acids may cause irritation and redness and should be discontinued in the event of such. Rose Water Facial Masque Mature, Combo To Dry Skin

I decided to finish out the week with another favorite facial masque recipe of mine, not only for what it offers dry and combination skin types, but oh my gosh, the fragrance is truly intoxicating. This masque recipe should be in everyone's skincare regimen.

I love Rose Water Distillate, Rose Oil, Rose Petals, Essential Oil of Rose Absolute (very expensive) anything Rose I can get my hands on. It takes me back to an era of when I spent every weekend as a child with my Gran in the city across the bay...yes...that is right....good ole San Francisco.

Everything she possessed in her creams and toilette waters had Rose or Lavender as the main fragrances. Her bedroom and kitchen always had faint hints of the subtleties of Rose Petals. She used it in cooking and to boost her wonderful walnut tangerine chicken salad....it made this delicacy very fragrant to the pallet and the senses.

The Rose signifies romance, beauty, youth, love and well being. Their fragrance brings calm, balance, relieves stress and creates a relaxing ambiance.

This is why I made sure my Vitamin Rich Facial Serum, our premium skincare product, and my favorite also, was made with the first ingredient being from pure Rose Distillate. It is also our second ingredient in Perfect Balance Facial Toner for a very subtle hint of Roses. My day is not complete until I get my Rose fix in the morning when I apply my serum to my face. I savor the lovely fragrance while it lasts. It dissipates within a few minutes though, but the moisturizing quality of Rose which remains on the skin is so beneficial to mature skin and all other skin types, and provides soothing comfort for irritated or sensitive skin types.

And for those who are familiar with my mineral makeup products, it is clear I am in LOVE with the Rose....hence my names honoring the Rose... Rose Petal Foundation, Rose Bloom Eye Color, Rosebud Blush. Then of course there is the foundation formulas...Delicate Rose Petal, Dewy Rose Petal, and Velvet Rose Petal. ;~)

This is why I love this masque...I hope you do to! Indulge your senses 1-3 times per week....your preference!

Rose Water Facial Masque Recipe

Ingredients needed:

Rose Water ( pure, no preservatives and not made with Rose Oil and Water, only steam distilled)
Natural Unflavored Yogurt
Organic Honey

You can locate these at your local health food stores, food coops or some vitamin shops. Just be sure to read the ingredients of your Rose Water. If it is not pure do not purchase it. You want it to be USDA Certified and food grade quality. The place I located the best Pure Distilled Rose Water is from Alteya Organics. 100% Pure! It runs between $7.85 - $23.95 depending on size of purchase.

Let's Formulate A Fragrant Masque

Keeping It Simple....In small bowl mix:

2 Tbs Rose Water (keep your bottle refrigerated to preserve freshness) Do not warm!
1 Tbs Natural Yogurt (room temperature or warm slightly in microwave before adding to Rose Water)
1 Tbs Organic Honey (warm in microwave first to make it runny then add to masque mixture)

Optional Fun:

6 Fresh Rose Petals (available depending on time of year or go to Costco for an inexpensive Bouquet)

If you use the live Rose Petals, soak them in water 15 - 30 minutes then crush them up in the bottom of the bowl for a truly fragrant release of their natural oils.

Now add your Rose Water, warm Yogurt and warmed Honey. The Rose water will warm up from the Yogurt and Honey.
Mix really well and apply to a freshly cleansed face and neck.
Relax and enjoy the mild aroma of a rose garden and bask in its' essence for 20 - 30 minutes.

Rinse off with warm water or remove with a steamed in the microwave wet washcloth...(be careful...may be HOT!)

For the handcraft lover and experimenter, if you ever want to make your own Rose Water, here is an article I located on how to do precisely that. Rose Water Distillation Enjoy!

Now apply your Perfect Balance Facial Toner and your Vitamin Rich Facial Serum to finalize this luxurious Spa Treatment. Voila! Ahhh.....You smell so good and your skin feels like a velvet Rose Petal!

Ingredient Benefits

Rose Water ~ It stimulates the skin encouraging blood flow. It is great for controlling and balancing sebum, making it beneficial for both dry and oily skin. It can balance and restore the skin's pH and helps tighten pores. Its antibacterial properties help fight acne creating a gentle environment for healing without harshness. It is reputed to be useful in the treatment of all sorts of dermatitis.

Yogurt ~ The lactic acid in yogurt soothes, softens and tightens the skin and refines the pores. It reduces wrinkles and hydrates dry areas. Its high nutrient content and natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties also get rid of germs and other bacteria.

Warning: this a lactic acid (natural AHA and dairy) so if you react to these typically due to allergic reactions when consuming dairy then you may have a skin reaction with topical application...do patch test!

Honey ~ It is the sweet material taken from the nectar of flowers and manufactured by bees. Used since Egyptian times for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. It is full of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes. Has an emollient property, is soothing and is a natural humectant. This helps to smooth roughness and calm irritations of the skin. It has natural cleansing and antibacterial properties and since bacteria are unable to live in honey, it demonstrates its natural preservative capabilities. This perfect emollient leaves a micro thin protective film on the skin.

I hope you enjoy this wonderful masque as much as I've enjoyed sharing it with you.

Keep the munchkins safe this Halloween. Since it is on a Saturday this year, I expect you will see them out in their ghoulish costumes well after dark. Little kids in costume are the cutest!

Have a great weekend and let me know how this recipe does for you.

Holistic Facial Mask For Acne, Rosacea. Great For All Skin Types!

Using natural face masks are excellent for detoxifying the skin, fighting acne, calming rosacea and soothing psoriasis. The beauty of using all natural products in a one time use facial mask is you don't have to worry about preservatives or the product going bad. It is made fresh each time and the leftovers tossed after application. Safe, effective and completely sanitary!

I have been touting the benefits of using Oryza (Rice) Sativa forever now, and why it is so excellent for all skin types, especially those suffering from rosacea and acne. It is a natural emollient for soothing and softening skin while providing retention of moisture against the skin with slow oil absorbing properties also.

It is this key ingredient we have built the success of our mineral makeup products on and why women are doing so well with our mineral powders to date along with our use of Jojoba Oil and Allantoin.

Now I wish to share with you an all natural recipe for "doing it yourself" skin therapy with a wonderful holistic facial mask made from Rice Flour, Goats Milk and Honey found right in your own kitchen. Very simple and fun to do and your skin will feel absolutely wonderful. It is non irritating and your acne will do so well on this mixture. As with any skincare product whether homemade or off the grocery store shelf, do a small patch test to make sure you do not have a reaction. Well let's go play formulator:

Face Mask Recipe: Gluten Free! Excellent for all skin types including Mature, Dry skin.

6 Tablespoons Rice Flour (organic if you can find it)
5 Tablespoons Organic Goats Milk
1 Tablespoon Organic Honey
1/2 - 1 Teaspoon Organic Cold Pressed Jojoba Oil (optional) Provides further moisturizing properties and adds more soothing repair to aggravated skin.

Mix these ingredients together and slightly warm in the microwave 10 -30 seconds on high. Time varies depending on power level. Stir ingredients again then test on forearm to make sure it did not get too hot. Mask should have a paste like consistency, similar to oatmeal. If you like your mask to be a bit more runny, increase the goats milk. If you prefer it thicker, decrease the goats milk. Play with it and have fun, there are no rules, but simply experimentation!

Cleanse and dry face only and then apply your mask formula with your fingertips.

For the best in mask performance, apply after you get out of a steamy shower since the pores will have been softened making for better cleansing and exfoliation. Or apply while taking a hot bath.

Using gentle circular motion, continue application until face is completely covered. Keep away from delicate eye area.

Once the mask is in place sit down and relax for 20-30 minutes.

Now rinse with lukewarm water while slightly massaging skin again for further exfoliation until it is fully rinsed off.

You can use this mask 2-3 times per week safely.

Rosacea Care: only massage face during application. Use once per week and rinse mask from face without further exfoliation massage. For mild rosacea with acne this mask can be used up to 2 times per week. With rosacea you want to guard against over stimulating the skin too much. This mask is about as gentle an exfoliator as you can get.

Follow up with your Perfect Balance Facial Toner for toning skin and tightening pores, followed up with your favorite skin cream or our Vitamin Rich Facial Serum. Never a better time to use this while the skin is fresh, clean and softened to allow for maximum absorption of nutrients.

Ingredient Performance

Rice Flour ~ is great for providing the exfoliation in the form of a slightly gritty texture, not to be confused with our modified, cosmetic grade Rice Powder we use in our mineral cosmetics as this is silky and non gritty. Raw Rice Flour maintains a more pronounced level of the moisturizing properties and you can feel it when you rub it between your fingers. This will help the acne and remove dead skin cells, blackheads, whiteheads and simply provide an all over moisturizing gentle exfoliant for the face.

Goats Milk ~ Goats milk has the same pH level as human skin which means it will not dry your face out. It is also a natural anti-inflammatory, natural exfoliant (alpha hydroxy acid) and has antibacterial capability, killing the bacteria which causes acne. It will also saturate the skin with essential nutrients of Vitamins A, B, C and D. Goats Milk by Meyenberg can also be found in dry powder form and rehydrated with distilled water for each individual use. Available in health food stores or vitamin shops. Or online from a variety of locations. It will also store better than fresh goats milk or canned goats milk. Dehydrated version has shelf life of 4 years.

Honey ~ It is full of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes.

Warning: sweetness may be hazardous! Guard against eating your mask instead of using it on your face. ;~)

Jojoba Oil ~ It aids in the reduction of acne, healing of skin irritations, and will help minimize scarring. It is soothing for those with rosacea, sebborheic dermatitis and psoriasis. It is excellent for decongesting facial pores, stopping the over production of natural pore clogging sebum and for restoring your skins' natural pH balance. Jojoba oil is a powerful anti-oxidant and is rich in Vitamin E, Vitamin C and contains minerals of Chromium, Copper, and Zinc. It mimics our own sebum, and will act as a replacement for the loss of natural oils and collagen as our skin matures, making it excellent for fighting wrinkles. It aids in smoothing surface roughness, flakiness and fine lines.

This ingredient is also used in our mineral makeup foundation formulas for preventing dryness and controlling sebum production. And of course, for its' other well known healing properties.

Best Place To Find These Fantastic Ingredients

All of these can be found at your local food coop or health food store for the most part. Even some grocery stores will have a health food section for getting most of these items. Rice Flour may need to be purchased from your local Asian market. I personally have to go to my local Asian market since I could not find raw rice flour anywhere else. The best part about it too is it is inexpensive and will store in an airtight container for up to 2 years.

Try it this weekend to reveal a brighter, healthier new you with glowing skin.

Watch for more homemade beauty recipes in the future. Also let me know how it did for your face...I would love to learn about your results with this soothing, healing mask. Either write to me or leave a comment at this article.

Happy Day! Toodles!
