Rose Water Facial Masque Mature, Combo To Dry Skin

I decided to finish out the week with another favorite facial masque recipe of mine, not only for what it offers dry and combination skin types, but oh my gosh, the fragrance is truly intoxicating. This masque recipe should be in everyone's skincare regimen.

I love Rose Water Distillate, Rose Oil, Rose Petals, Essential Oil of Rose Absolute (very expensive) anything Rose I can get my hands on. It takes me back to an era of when I spent every weekend as a child with my Gran in the city across the bay...yes...that is right....good ole San Francisco.

Everything she possessed in her creams and toilette waters had Rose or Lavender as the main fragrances. Her bedroom and kitchen always had faint hints of the subtleties of Rose Petals. She used it in cooking and to boost her wonderful walnut tangerine chicken salad....it made this delicacy very fragrant to the pallet and the senses.

The Rose signifies romance, beauty, youth, love and well being. Their fragrance brings calm, balance, relieves stress and creates a relaxing ambiance.

This is why I made sure my Vitamin Rich Facial Serum, our premium skincare product, and my favorite also, was made with the first ingredient being from pure Rose Distillate. It is also our second ingredient in Perfect Balance Facial Toner for a very subtle hint of Roses. My day is not complete until I get my Rose fix in the morning when I apply my serum to my face. I savor the lovely fragrance while it lasts. It dissipates within a few minutes though, but the moisturizing quality of Rose which remains on the skin is so beneficial to mature skin and all other skin types, and provides soothing comfort for irritated or sensitive skin types.

And for those who are familiar with my mineral makeup products, it is clear I am in LOVE with the Rose....hence my names honoring the Rose... Rose Petal Foundation, Rose Bloom Eye Color, Rosebud Blush. Then of course there is the foundation formulas...Delicate Rose Petal, Dewy Rose Petal, and Velvet Rose Petal. ;~)

This is why I love this masque...I hope you do to! Indulge your senses 1-3 times per week....your preference!

Rose Water Facial Masque Recipe

Ingredients needed:

Rose Water ( pure, no preservatives and not made with Rose Oil and Water, only steam distilled)
Natural Unflavored Yogurt
Organic Honey

You can locate these at your local health food stores, food coops or some vitamin shops. Just be sure to read the ingredients of your Rose Water. If it is not pure do not purchase it. You want it to be USDA Certified and food grade quality. The place I located the best Pure Distilled Rose Water is from Alteya Organics. 100% Pure! It runs between $7.85 - $23.95 depending on size of purchase.

Let's Formulate A Fragrant Masque

Keeping It Simple....In small bowl mix:

2 Tbs Rose Water (keep your bottle refrigerated to preserve freshness) Do not warm!
1 Tbs Natural Yogurt (room temperature or warm slightly in microwave before adding to Rose Water)
1 Tbs Organic Honey (warm in microwave first to make it runny then add to masque mixture)

Optional Fun:

6 Fresh Rose Petals (available depending on time of year or go to Costco for an inexpensive Bouquet)

If you use the live Rose Petals, soak them in water 15 - 30 minutes then crush them up in the bottom of the bowl for a truly fragrant release of their natural oils.

Now add your Rose Water, warm Yogurt and warmed Honey. The Rose water will warm up from the Yogurt and Honey.
Mix really well and apply to a freshly cleansed face and neck.
Relax and enjoy the mild aroma of a rose garden and bask in its' essence for 20 - 30 minutes.

Rinse off with warm water or remove with a steamed in the microwave wet washcloth...(be careful...may be HOT!)

For the handcraft lover and experimenter, if you ever want to make your own Rose Water, here is an article I located on how to do precisely that. Rose Water Distillation Enjoy!

Now apply your Perfect Balance Facial Toner and your Vitamin Rich Facial Serum to finalize this luxurious Spa Treatment. Voila! Ahhh.....You smell so good and your skin feels like a velvet Rose Petal!

Ingredient Benefits

Rose Water ~ It stimulates the skin encouraging blood flow. It is great for controlling and balancing sebum, making it beneficial for both dry and oily skin. It can balance and restore the skin's pH and helps tighten pores. Its antibacterial properties help fight acne creating a gentle environment for healing without harshness. It is reputed to be useful in the treatment of all sorts of dermatitis.

Yogurt ~ The lactic acid in yogurt soothes, softens and tightens the skin and refines the pores. It reduces wrinkles and hydrates dry areas. Its high nutrient content and natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties also get rid of germs and other bacteria.

Warning: this a lactic acid (natural AHA and dairy) so if you react to these typically due to allergic reactions when consuming dairy then you may have a skin reaction with topical application...do patch test!

Honey ~ It is the sweet material taken from the nectar of flowers and manufactured by bees. Used since Egyptian times for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. It is full of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes. Has an emollient property, is soothing and is a natural humectant. This helps to smooth roughness and calm irritations of the skin. It has natural cleansing and antibacterial properties and since bacteria are unable to live in honey, it demonstrates its natural preservative capabilities. This perfect emollient leaves a micro thin protective film on the skin.

I hope you enjoy this wonderful masque as much as I've enjoyed sharing it with you.

Keep the munchkins safe this Halloween. Since it is on a Saturday this year, I expect you will see them out in their ghoulish costumes well after dark. Little kids in costume are the cutest!

Have a great weekend and let me know how this recipe does for you.

  1. Geesh! I'm relaxing just reading about this recipe. All I have right now is the honey so I've got some shopping to do. Or maybe I can use this Sweet Dreams aromatherapy mist I have. It's made with rosewater. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks!
